Colorful Fitness Photoshoot with Olympian Swimmer Kasia Wilk

lifestyle and fitness photography las vegas | photos by Martina Zando Photography

Last month I met with Kasia for a shoot to play with light and the concept of water outside the pool. I thought it would be fun to use colorful strobes and mist for this fitness photoshoot.

Kasia is now a Las Vegas resident and fellow European. Here is her interview to learn more about her background and aspiration for the next Olympics, in 2020. Happy swimming and enjoy the photos!

When did you start swimming competitively?

My brothers started swimming first. I wanted to do what they were doing so my parents signed me up for a swim team when I was 8 years old.

What did you like about swimming since then?

Swimming is the closest thing to a superpower that I have. Whenever I swim it’s almost as if I’m flying on top of the water. That's why I go to the pool every day to feel like a superhero.

Can you tell us more about your role models?

My role models are my parents. They are my guide and give me the courage to battle obstacles in life. What I am today involves the support and affection of my parents. They have made me disciplined, dedicated and sincere.

When you are training for the Olympics, what are your hopes ?

I have the ambition to become a four time Olympian. I want to represent my country on the biggest level.  The experience helps me. I have been there, I know what it looks like and I know what it sounds like and I want to be a better version of myself than 4 years ago.

What is more scary for you, a day at the office or a day of competitions ?

I'm not scared of competitions. This is more like a reward for me because I know how much work I put in every day and when the competition comes I’m confident.  It’s all worth it because the second I touch the wall and see my newly dropped time I know those hours of training had a purpose. I am victorious. It’s probably one of the best feelings in the world.

What are you hoping to do after being a professional swimmer?

I graduated with a bachelor in Psychology. I have a huge passion for sports. I want to work with athletes of all levels to help them reach their personal goals and exceed their expectations.

How did you enjoy the experience of the photoshoot?

I had an amazing time. Under the friendly and relaxing atmosphere of the studio I was enjoying myself and the photos reflect that atmosphere. Martina is very friendly, and has a very keen eye for a good photo! :-)

What was the best part of it

The best part was seeing the photos themselves! all the photos are so beautiful!

Is there any other advice you would like to give to the readers ?

If you want to be successful you need to be passionate about what you do. You need to be motivated and driven to be the best you can be regardless of your job or your work. Ultimately it is about your attitude. You may have heard if you change your mind you can change your life. To be successful at anything you have to care about it.
