Country style photoshoot with Horses 4 Heroes

Country style photoshoot with Horses 4 Heroes

Last week I went to Floyd Lamb Park, on the North side of Las Vegas, to see a family who volunteers at Horses 4 Heroes.  The park is beautiful, it has traditional buildings, a couple of lakes and lots of greenery (by Las Vegas standards). It is a great spot for family time and relaxation. On site there is the Horses 4 Heroes ranch, a charity which aims at providing affordable riding opportunities for heroes and their immediate families: veterans, military personnel, as well as other heroes in our communities including, but not limited to, nurses, special needs teachers, first responders and more. Working with horses, they explained, can teach very import life skills to children and adults alike. Empathy, responsibility and dedication are some of these values. The horses also help teach self-confidence and self-reliance. I like this part in particular, since I care deeply about promoting self-confidence in whatever I do, both as a photographer and in my previous roles as an outdoor instructor and teacher.

Mike, Hayley and their daughter showed me around the ranch. I enjoyed seeing the different personalities of each horse and had so much fun capturing the family's interactions with the horses and each other. I am looking forward to more shoots at Floyd Lamb Park and getting to know these beautiful creatures better.

I will offer families, solo and couples photoshoot at Horses4 Heroes. Part of my session fee will go to the charity, supporting their aim of providing affordable riding lessons to Heroes and their families.
